St. Paul’s Senior Services Celebrates Inclusion at Pride Festival
St. Paul’s Senior Services proudly marked its debut at the 2024 Pride Parade and Festival, a vibrant two-day celebration held in the heart of Balboa Park. This milestone event underscored the organization’s unwavering commitment to supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals and seniors in the community, while highlighting its mission to transform the aging experience and enhance quality of life for every person it serves.
Embracing the uplifting message “Standing Proud with Pride,” St. Paul’s employees engaged festival attendees at two interactive booths, sharing information about its wide range of programs, services, and senior living communities. Special attention was given to The Manor on Bankers Hill, a newly renovated retirement community designed for active seniors that warmly welcomes LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples over the age of 55. The Manor represents more than just a place to live—it is a vibrant space where inclusivity, dignity, and connection thrive for seniors of all backgrounds.
“Everyone has a place at our table,” said Craig Smith, Director of Donor Engagement for the St. Paul’s Senior Services Foundation. “We are especially dedicated to reaching those who are underserved, overlooked, or most vulnerable in our community. Representing St. Paul’s at Pride this year was an honor, and it was deeply rewarding to share our mission of serving seniors with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.”
In addition to celebrating inclusivity, St. Paul’s participation was made possible through a collaboration with San Diego Oasis, a partnership that brought both organizations to the festival’s Senior Cool Zones. These shaded areas offered vital resources, respite, and comfort to seniors throughout the weekend, reinforcing St. Paul’s commitment to accessibility, engagement, and wellness.
Beyond community outreach, St. Paul’s Senior Services continues to grow and seeks individuals passionate about making a real difference in the lives of older adults. Opportunities are currently available across a variety of departments, inviting applicants who want to contribute to a mission-driven environment that values compassion, respect, and innovation. Over six decades, St. Paul’s has cultivated a reputation for delivering award-winning care, fostering communities where seniors can live with dignity, purpose, and joy.
By participating in the Pride Festival, St. Paul’s not only celebrated diversity and inclusivity but also reinforced its core belief: every senior, regardless of background, deserves to feel seen, valued, and celebrated. Through events like these and everyday dedication to its residents, St. Paul’s Senior Services continues to redefine what it means to age with connection, respect, and pride.
